Let's Learn About Chemistry

Created by Stephanie Ryan (Author of Let's Learn About Chemistry: Chemistry for Toddlers)

A board book that introduces chemistry to kids through the use of comparison activities. #ChemistryForToddlers #STEM The Pre-order store is open as a campaign extension. It will be open as a replacement to the cancelled #ACSPhilly meeting where they were going to be sold as a presale at an Expo booth. This will be open until 4/15/2020. After that, you will have to wait until it is officially launched on June 2, 2020.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Big jump in funding and a new video!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Aug 12, 2019 at 04:52:56 PM

We went from 40% to 50% in less than 24 hours! That is awesome! Let's keep the momentum going!

I created a new video that will now play if you click on the image of the project page

Keep sharing and including reasons why you think it is a great project. Consider increasing your pledge. Or, reach out like one of our backers did about a custom pledge to get books for your school. I'll give you a hint, I'm pretty open to giving discounts so that kids can have this book in their lives :) Makes a great holiday gift for daycares, doctor's offices, schools, etc. Send me a message and we can work something out!

3 days to go! Let's do this!

Only four days to go!

Happy Sunday! Did you know that 98% of Kickstarters that pass the 60% mark are funded? There is something about the momentum that just keeps the project moving forward past that finish line.

If you were waiting until the end of the campaign to make your pledge, now is the time because you can help us gain that final momentum! The book has a lot of support- over 200 backers, dozens of reshares on social media, and almost 250 followers to the book's page on Facebook. Parents are excited by this way of introducing STEM to their young children, in a fun and interactive way.

If you want to see this book into print, please share this link with your friends and family with a story of why you think it is a great book that needs to be backed. Sharing your reasons for backing the book with your network will increase the likelihood of another person taking a look compared to simply sharing the link.  If you are sharing on Twitter, use the hashtag #ChemistryForToddlers and I will retweet you!

If you have already backed the project, THANK YOU! A lot of my backers are first time backers, so I wanted to let them know that it is possible to increase your original pledge if you want to! A lot of my backers are first time backers, so I wanted to let them know that it is possible to increase your original pledge if you want to!

Finally, a thanks to Jumbo Minds for cross-promoting the book along with theirs. It was nice of them to share their network! If you click on their name, you can see their book: Jumpin' Junior- A Bush Baby's Tale Children's Book.

Local News Coverage!

Current in Carmel did a story on me and the book! It will be out in print on August 13. If you live in Carmel, IN be sure to check your mailboxes! If you do not live in Carmel, you can access the article online right now!

My favorite quote from the interview:

"I always hear 'Oh, I didn't do well in chemistry in school' or 'I hated chemistry'... But chemistry is all around us, and if we focus on the patterns early, I hope to keep children excited about science. Maybe in 20 years chemistry won't have such a bad reputation."

Here is a snapshot of the article!

Keep sharing and if you haven't pledged yet, please do! We hit 41% last night! Remember, this project is an all-or-nothing project. If the 100% goal isn't reached, no money is taken from pledgers or given to the book. Statistically, projects that hit 60% have a 98% chance of being funded. We are so close to that mark. Let's do this! :)

Meet the Inspirations for the Book and Flash Pledge Option!
over 4 years ago – Fri, Aug 09, 2019 at 03:53:25 PM

This little guy right here was the inspiration for my book. . . and he is one of the main characters! The illustrator Christine Cagara took an image of Charlie and really brought his character to life. Were you wondering how closely her illustrations match the real children that inspired the book?

This is Charlie, my son.

And these are his friends from when he was born: Elizabeth, Oscar, and Lydia.

She even captured my likeness for the back cover!

If you'd like to see yourself as an illustration (not in the book, just in a digital file for yourself)- take advantage of a 2-day flash sale of the "You as an Illustration" Pledge. For the next 2 days only, you can get yourself as an illustration in the style of the book, along with 20 Signed copies of the book for a $500 pledge (+shipping). There are only 5 of this Backer Reward available- so hop on this flash sale today before it ends on 8/10/19 at Noon EST!

What a week!

As of this posting, we have hit 31% funding and we have 142 backers! Wow! Keep sharing and getting the word out there!

Stephanie Ryan (the author) wrote a guest blog post about classification and chemistry concepts for The Skeptical Chemist that was published today. Check it out here

The press release has been picked up by several news and radio organizations! Here are a few of the links!

It has been a great week for the book! Only 14 days left to support it!

To celebrate, I'll share another page of the book! This is one of the author's son Charlie's favorite pages. He says "Orange is my favorite color. The juice is the only orange one. And this one (the oil/water) does not mix. The others do mix."
